Chicago Black Gay Men's Caucus (CBGMC)

CBGMC was created in 2005 by individuals and organizations committed to improving the lives and well-being of Black gay and bi-sexual men.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Caucus is to mobilize and empower Black gay men and their allies to identify solutions to prevent new HIV infections by addressing the well-being of Black men who have sex with men (MSM).

Focus
The focus of the Caucus is to eliminate the gaps that exist in STD/HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment services for black gay and bi-sexual men as well as Black men who have sex with men. (MSM)

Committees
CBGMC has several sub-committees that ensure the group's goals are consistent with the needs of black men who have sex with men, such as: Community Outreach/Events, Fundraising-Development, Policy Advocacy (PASC), EPC Membership, Faith/Based and Youth.

Members
CBGMC members consists of: Business Owners, Clergy, Club/Party Promoters, Community Based Organizations, Political Partners, Community Activists/Advocates and Public Health Officials
.

One of the key goals of CBGMC is to create an environment where every Black gay and bi-sexual man in Chicago knows his HIV status, enters into medical care if he is positive, or takes the precautions neccessary to remain HIV negative.

Our prevention campaign, "I Know. (Do You Know?)" emphasizes the importance of knowing your own HIV status and the status of your partner.
